DRAYTON – An outdoor skating rink behind the PMD arena here is now open, Mapleton Township announced on Jan. 14.

“Our staff have been working hard to create an outdoor rink for everyone to enjoy and it is now open at the rear of the PMD arena in Drayton,” township officials state in a Facebook post.

Officials note the rink is allowed to be open, despite the current stay-at-home order, under strict rules from the provincial government.

Rink users must ensure they follow all rules:

  • 10 Skaters maximum at a time;
  • no organized play or sports;
  • no games, no sticks, no pucks;
  • maintain two metres physical distance at all times; and
  • masks must be worn at all times.

Signs at the rink ask users to pre-screen for possible COVID-19 symptoms or exposure.
