4-H Needlework Club learns embroidery origins

ERIN –  The Mimosa 4-H Needlework club began Sept. 11 with the 4-H pledge.

Members learned the origins of embroidery then practiced cross stitching.

A project was then started and members chose the club officers. Lastly the club ended the meeting with its 4-H motto.

Meeting two was held Sept. 18. The club started the meeting with the 4-H pledge. Members completed the first projects then people who finished first got to select a new project.

Members then had to decode colours to match the designs chosen.

During the meeting a club leader’s friend visited from England and chose to work with the club to do a cross stitch picture.

The meeting closed with the 4-H motto.

The third meeting was held Sept. 25.

Members then began to work on their main projects for the rest of the meeting and ended with the motto.

The fourth meeting opened with the 4-H pledge.

Members continued working on projects and some were ready to choose a third project.

The fifth meeting began with the pledge and a roll call to show the leaders the progress members had made on the main cross stitch project.

One of the members had completed the project and it was set in cold water to dissolve the background marks.

The last meeting was held on Oct. 23. Three of the members had completed projects and were presented with a frame to display it.

Members are to show their projects when they are finished. The club closed with the 4-H motto.
