ELORA – Each new donation to the expansion of the Elora Centre for the Arts from now to Nov. 15 will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to a maximum of $80,000.

“This matching campaign has the power to push us across the finish line, and we hope it inspires even more community members to contribute to our new addition, knowing their donation will now have twice the impact," arts centre executive director Lianne Carter said in a press release.

The matching donation comes from an unnamed "generous community member," Carter said.

The centre's 3,500-square-foot addition will feature a large, multi-purpose space for programming, exhibitions, performances and community gatherings.

The centre also offers outreach programs, workshops, summer camps, and affordable studio space for local artists and community groups.

According to the centre, nearly 2,500 people accessed free or low-cost arts programs through the centre.

Carter referred to the arts centre as a “community hub that brings people together through creativity and a sense of belonging.”

Anyone making a larger donation will be permanently recognized in the new addition.

Bricks can be purchased with a one-time gift of $500, or through monthly instalments of less than $20 a month. Names will be displayed on a plaque in the new addition.

Trees can be purchased for the yard with a donor's name appearing on a plaque by the tree. Trees can be purchased with a one-time gift of $1,000, or through monthly installments of less than $40 a month.

Donors can be part of The School of Fish, a new public art installation by Mike Hintermeister, with donor names featured on a plaque by the installation. Fish can be purchased with a one-time gift of $2,500, or through monthly instalments of less than $100 a month.

A space or feature in the new addition can be named starting at $5,000.

Donations of $2,5000 or more will get recognition on the donor wall inside the new addition.

“No matter the size, every gift makes a difference,” said Carter.
