The list of area public sector employees on the “Sunshine List” ballooned to over 600 in 2017.

That marks a significant increase from just two years ago, when less than 500 people made the 2015 list.

On March 23 the province released its annual “Sunshine List” of public sector employees with a salary of at least $100,000.

The highest paid employees in the Wellington County area are Bruce Lauckner, CEO of Waterloo-Wellington Local Health Integration Network, who made $334,315 (up from $324,523 in 2016) and Dr. Nicola Mercer, CEO of Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health, who made $301,340 (no change from 2016).

The 2017 local list includes 67 municipal employees (up 14% from 59 in 2016):

- 41 from Wellington County (up from 34 in 2016);

- nine from Centre Wellington (down from 11 in 2016);

- four each from Erin, Guelph-Eramosa and Minto (each up by one);

- three in Puslinch (up from one in 2016); and

- one each from Mapleton (down from three) and Wellington North (no change).

The list also includes 251 employees of the Upper Grand District School Board (up 24% from 202 in 2016) and 69 from the Wellington Catholic District School Board (down from 73 in 2016).
