Arthur concrete plant to reopen after five-year closure
ARTHUR – Lafarge Canada’s ready-mix concrete plant in Arthur is set to officially re-open May 1.
Plant manager Daryl Walser told the Advertiser it closed about five years ago due to a cement powder shortage during the COVID-19 pandemic.
When the plant, located at 24 Wells St. E., reopens there will be five employees including dispatchers, Walser said, which is about the same as at the time of closure.
Walser said the company wants to let the community know it’s back in the area and is ready to serve customers.
“This reopening ensures improved access to high-quality ready-mix concrete for residential, commercial and infrastructure projects in the area,” states a press release from Lafarge.
“Reopening the Arthur plant is about being where our customers need us,” Walser states in the release.
“We’re proud to re-establish our presence in the region and contribute to its growth with reliable concrete supply and strong local partnerships,” he continues.
“The plant will supply a full range of ready-mix concrete products,” the release states.
“Contractors and homeowners alike can count on timely delivery and custom mixes, tailored to their project needs.”
