Arthur Opti-Mrs. Santa Claus Parade will light up the night
ARTHUR – Lights will be twinkling, bells will be ringing, and local residents will huddle on sidewalks to watch as the Arthur OptiMrs. Santa Claus Parade makes its way through the village on Nov. 29.
Local community organizations, teams, businesses and other groups are already working hard to decorate festive floats in preparation for the annual parade.
This year’s theme is “Gingerbread Christmas.”
And if people want to enter the parade but haven’t got the ball rolling yet, it’s not too late. There’s no registration; participants can decorate their floats and show up on the night to join in the fun.
The parade will begin at Arthur Public School (155 Conestoga St. N.), where floats will congregate after 6pm.
Parade marshals will be at the school to put each float in a spot.
The parade will then head south towards Smith Street/Highway 6 at 7pm. Once it reaches Smith Street/Highway 6 the parade will turn left, heading east towards downtown and carrying on until Charles Street.
After the parade, participants are welcome to head to the Arthur Fire Hall, where smells of hot chocolate will be wafting through the air.
Santa Claus will be there, ready for children who want the chance to meet him up close. There will also be hot dogs and donuts to eat.
“Bundle up and bring your family and friends,” Arthur OptiMrs officials say.
The parade is supported by Optimist International, Lions Clubs International, the Township of Wellington North and Wellington North Fire.
