BAXTER, William “Bill” John
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Bill Baxter on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus, with his family by his side. Bill was the beloved husband of Carol (née Fitches) for 62 ½ years, a true partnership filled with love and devotion. He was a loving father to John Baxter of Kitchener, Susan Lee of Kitchener, and Dan Baxter of London, UK. Bill adored his grandchildren, Alexandra, William, and Elizabeth, and his memory will live on through them. He is also survived by his brother Bob and sister Phyllis. Throughout his courageous journey with cancer, Bill was continually thankful for the incredible support he received from his community, kind neighbours, cherished family, and dear friends. His gratitude was a testament to his warm spirit. Family and friends were invited to pay their respects at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 7-9pm. Additional visitation was held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Fergus on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 12-1pm, followed by a service at 1pm. A reception was held in the church hall immediately following the service for a time of fellowship and refreshments. The burial took place at Belsyde Cemetery in Fergus. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations to Ontario Christian Gleaners or St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Bill’s memory.
