BRUCEDALE – Township council has accepted the low bid of $1,344,301 including HST for the reconstruction of Bedford Road, off Highway 6 just north of Guelph.

The project was planned for 2018, but the tender was cancelled due to budget considerations. The only new element is additional water service for all properties fronting the new watermain.

The project includes drainage improvements, storm sewers, curbs, a watermain extension and resurfacing.

The road comes to a dead end without a vehicle turnaround, transitioning into a walkway that connects to Cross Creek Boulevard.

Guelph-Eramosa awarded the project to low bidder Kieswetter Excavating Inc. on April 1. There were six bids ranging from $1,344,301 to $1,646,996.

The water component of $330,000 will be paid from water reserve funds and the balance from Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF) and federal gas tax funding.
