Brampton man drowns in Grand River

ELORA – A Brampton man drowned after jumping into the Grand River on Sunday evening.

Wellington County OPP officials say emergency crews responded to Bissell Park in Elora on Aug. 24 at about 6:30pm.

An individual "jumped off the Bissell Park bridge into the Grand River and did not resurface," police stated in an Aug. 25 press release.

"Local emergency services entered the Grand River and located the individual."

Police say a 29-year-old man from Brampton was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"The victim's identity will not be released out of respect for the privacy of the family," stated the OPP release, which noted the incident is "non-suspicious."
