Building slows in Mapleton Township

MAPLETON – Building activity in the township was down from 2021 levels at the mid-point of the 2022 construction season.

A report from building department administrative assistant Hope Spark, presented at the July 12 council meeting, indicates 37 building permits for construction valued at about $6.3 million were issued this past June, compared to 58 for construction worth $6.6 million in June of 2021.

The department has issued 209 permits for $34 million worth of construction to the end of June, compared to 260 permits for construction valued at $39.4 million for the same period the previous year.

Agricultural construction has made up the largest share of the building totals to this point in 2022, with 10 permits for construction valued at $2.3 million issued in June and 69 permits for $11.7 million worth of construction issued to the end of June.
