Building trending down in 2022

MAPLETON – After a busy year in 2021, building activity in the township appears headed back to more typical levels as 2022 comes to a close.

November statistics from the township’s building department show 19 permits issued for construction activity valued at about $3.7 million in Mapleton, compared to 23 permits for just over $5 million worth of construction during the same month last year.

The value of all construction to the end of November totaled about $51.7 million on 326 permits, down from 426 permits for construction worth just over $75 million the previous year.

Permits were issued for construction valued at around $53 million to the same point in both 2020 and 2019.

Agricultural construction, with 104 permits issued for about $1.7 million worth of construction, was the busiest sector to the end of Nov. 2022.

Residential construction, was next, with 25 permits issued for about $1.15 million worth of single-family dwelling construction and 42 permits issued for additions and renovations with a total construction value of $60,800.
