BURKITT, Raymond “Ray” 

Ray passed away peacefully Dec.16th, 2024 at the age of 91. Ray has joined Anna Marie now and square dancing their heart to content. Ray leaves behind his family. Loving father of Ronald (Pam), Gary (Joan), and Kim. Proud grandpa of Simon and Caroline Burkitt, Renee (Nivek) Belfare, Dana (Craig) McConnery, and Raymond Burkitt Jr. (Chloe). Cherished great-grandpa of 6. Brother-in-law Trevor (Catherine) of the U.K. Brother of Jean (late Ray) Archer, Helen (Bill) Sommervile, Donna (Russ) Donaldson, and several nieces and nephews. Ray worked for Rothsay Concentrate 35 years. Ray was active with Marie at the Senior Centre in Fergus. Ray was an Elora Legion member for 50 years. Ray served in the Korean War. Ray was a devoted customer at the Elora Cafe for several years. Ray was a resident at Heritage River Retirement Resident in Elora, and also at Derbecker’s Heritage Home in St. Jacobs. The family would like to thank the following Doctors when Ray was in their care: Dr. Beamish, Dr. Emma Scotchmer, and Dr. Sandra Loureiro. We would also want to say Thanks and your support and care for all the staff members at both facilities. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ray’s memory may be made to Groves Memorial Hospital.
