BURT, Winston

Of Palmerston passed away peacefully at the Grand River Hospital, Kitchener on Monday March 10, 2025 at the age of 71. Beloved husband of Mary (Benning) for 45 years. Dear father of Jennifer and Ryan Cherrey of Palmerston, Matthew Burt of Drayton and Nicole and Mike Orth of Harriston. Loving grandfather of Cole, Caden, Maddie, Jax, Ivy, Owen and Reed. Brother of Pearce and Elsie, Stewart and Francis, Willis and Helena, Linda and Wilson, Mildred and Ralph, Margaret, Ethel and Edward, Karen and the late Whyman, Susie and Dennis. Son-in-law of Theresa Benning and the late Klaas Benning. Brother-in-law the late John Benning, Mike and Ingrid Benning, Bill and Carla Benning, Dan and Linda Linker. Winston will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents Sidney and Lena Burt, siblings Rod, Roy, Garland and Leroy, half sister Mammie. To honour Winston’s wishes cremation has taken place. A casual afternoon in celebration of his life will be held at the Frank Lambier Legion Branch 409, Palmerston on Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00pm. An additional celebration will take place at a later date in Newfoundland and will be announced at that time. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Palmerston Hospital Foundation MRI or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
