CAMPBELL, Adam Florence

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Adam Florence Campbell on Sunday, October 13th at the age of 76. Adam was born on January 25th, 1948 in Glasgow, Scotland. He was the youngest of 5 children and spent his first 18 years in Clydebank, Scotland. He met the love of his life, Sylvia on a blind date 56 years ago and for those that knew them as a couple, it was truly a beautiful experience to see the love they shared. Dad had a dream of making a new life in one of the Commonwealth countries. After 11 months of dating Sylvia, they got the news that their first choice, Canada had offered him a place leveraging his machinist trade to work at BOAC in Renfrew, Ontario.  They were given 3 weeks to make their way to their new home. With no regrets, Dad walked away from his professional football (soccer) tryouts, got married and had a quick honeymoon in Edinburgh, Scotland before flying to Canada. Never a fan of his trade, Dad ended up moving to their home of 55 years in Guelph, Ontario where he made the effort to go to night school so he could get the necessary certifications to move off the machine floor and into Quality control. He leveraged this to work at several companies, Tampo, Moore Instruments, Guelph Products and Hammond Manufacturing to name a few and always had a passion for the automotive industry.  He left his indelible mark of light and laughter, delivered in his trademark Scottish accent not only with his work mates but also as a Coach of youth soccer and with the many friends made over the years. Survived by his wife, son, David and his 5 grandchildren, Miranda, Alex, Ashleigh, Rachel and Nicole and his daughter-in-law, Judy and the many dogs and dog-owners for whom he and Sylvia became surrogate parents. Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home. Please join us in a celebration of Adam’s life on Saturday, November 2nd at Rivermeade at 19 Cedar St., Eden Mills, ON N0B 1P0 from 1-4pm.
