Centre Wellington council paid $243,000 last year
CENTRE WELLINGTON MUNICIPAL OFFICE IN ELORA

ELORA – Centre Wellington’s mayor and councillors were paid a total $243,860 in 2024 for their honorariums and expenses.

That's up 11% from 2023, when council was paid $219,418.

Mayor Shawn Watters was paid $51,208 in 2024 for his role as mayor and $2,640 for a category called ‘meetings.’

He was also paid $7,337 plus $2,360 for meetings for his role on Centre Wellington Hydro’s board, and $1,905 for sitting on the board of the Grand River Conservation Authority.

Each of the six councillors were paid a $26,327 honorarium plus various amounts for meetings that ranged from $585 to $2,245 per councillor.

Council was also allowed some expenses such as cell phones, conference fees for attending conferences for the Association of Municipalities of Ontario, Rural Ontario Municipal Association, and Ontario Small Urban Municipalities.

Five members of the Committee of Adjustment were paid a total of $3,576.

The report came before council on March 24 as part of the consent agenda.
