ELORA - Ontario has given municipalities until Jan. 22, 2019 to opt in or out of allowing private retail cannabis stores.

The current options for municipalities are;

opt out as of Jan. 22, 2019 and choose to opt in at a later date; and

opt in as of Jan. 22, 2019, with no ability to opt out at a later date.

The township is currently reviewing all of its options.

Staff will take a report to the new council on Dec. 17 with recommendations that have incorporated community feedback.

The township is asking residents to take a few moments and visit www.connectcw.ca where they will find background information on cannabis legalization and options for municipalities.

The survey, which will be accessible until Dec. 9 at 11:59pm, asks residents how they feel about cannabis retail stores in Centre Wellington.
