Charges in bus collision that left Fergus man dead

GUELPH – A Cambridge woman has been arrested and charged after a Fergus man died when he was struck by a Guelph Transit bus last month.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Wyndham Street North and Carden Street on Jan. 8 at about 1:37pm. Guelph Police officials say a 49-year-old Fergus man was struck as he crossed Wyndham Street.

“The male was extricated from under the bus by Guelph Fire Department personnel but pronounced dead a short time later,” police stated.

On Feb. 9 a 57-year-old Cambridge woman attended a Guelph Police station and was arrested and charged with criminal negligence causing death and careless driving causing death.

She is to appear in Guelph court on March 28.
