GUELPH – Guelph Police are looking for witnesses and trying to identify a driver after a small child was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

Just before 4pm on Aug. 16 police were called to a townhouse complex on Poppy Drive East in Guelph.

“A seven-year-old was crossing a driveway within the complex when he was struck by a vehicle, sustaining minor injuries. The driver left the scene,” police stated in a press release.

The vehicle is described as a white 2014-2017 Honda Civic with licence plates containing “CE.” The driver was described as a possibly Arabic woman, 30 to 40 years of age and wearing a white hijab.

The involved driver and anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Michael Braga of the Guelph Police Service Traffic Unit at 519-824-1212, ext. 7144, or email mbraga@guelphpolice.ca.
