Council approves façade improvement project

Wellington North council has approved another one-time grant for a façade improvement.

In a report to council on Nov. 20, economic development officer Dale Small asked that a one-time Façade Improvement Grant of $1,508 be approved for new signage at Balanced Breath Studio in Arthur.

Council approved a budget of $15,000 in funding for the grant program for 2017, however the township received 12 applications totaling $30,206.

The cost overrun has been accommodated through the 2016 Business Retention and Expansion implementation fund and the economic development operating budget, said Small.

Over 45 applications have been submitted over  10 years to the Community Improvement Plan grant program. The total dollar value of the improvements in the community is estimated at about $457,000.
