Wellington North council approved a two per cent increase to 2018 recreation fees and charges at the Dec. 19 council meeting.

Clerk Karren Wallace said the increase will happen Jan. 1, 2018, “So that user groups and community groups are better able to plan for what their fees are going to be.”

The 2018 increase follows a 2% increase for 2017 rates, approved in May.

The fees are set to rise to counter inflation, higher hydro costs, wage increases and insurance rate increases.

Staff expect to generate an additional $12,800 in revenue for the township.
