ROCKWOOD  – Guelph/Eramosa council has granted Drexler Construction Limited with a third extension to allow them to work through draft plan conditions for proposed condominiums along Dowler Street in Rockwood.

The extension was granted during a Sept. 22 council meeting.

Drexler Construction asked council for an extension of two years, which was granted unanimously.

Staff had previously recommended a one-year extension.

This extension marks the third ocassion the company has asked for more time, which led some councillors to raise  concerns the company has been “working through conditions” for close to a decade.

“Nine years to get through all the conditions seems a tad excessive,” said councillor Corey Woods.

The draft plan was first approved in 2017. A two-year extension was granted in December 2021 with another two-year extension granted October 2023.

The company is currently working through 49 conditions imposed on the development, with work required by the GRCA and the township still underway.

Council allowed a two-year extension because of paving and pipeline work that has already been completed on the property.
