Centre Wellington plans to follow up on its economic development task force recommendation to approve in principle research on the need for municipally-owned and developed employment lands.

To that end, council approved retaining Watson and Associates Economists to investigate the business case for such lands.

On Oct. 31, councillor Stephen Kitras reported the decision came at a special council committee of the whole meeting on Oct. 27.

Kitras stated the intent is to be competitive and research how the township will move ahead in the area of economic development.

Councillors approved spending up to $70,000 for the work, with funds coming from the township’s land sale reserve.
