County releases online winter experiences map

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Winter adventures await in Wellington County, and there’s a map to help people find them.

“The winter experiences map is designed to make it easy for residents and visitors alike to discover the unique experiences Wellington County has to offer,” county councillor and economic development committee chair Jeff Duncan stated in a news release.

The digital “Winter Adventures Map” is an interactive tool that was launched by the county’s economic development department to help people find seasonal activities and winter experiences throughout the region.

“Whether you’re looking for a fun family outing, an adventure with friends, or a relaxing rural retreat, you’ll find something special here,” Duncan stated.

The county worked closely with local businesses, organizations and community members to create the resource, the release stated.

Some highlights include:

indoor and outdoor skating venues;

winter trails for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling;

horse-drawn sleigh rides;

local community theatres;

farm visits;

campfire experiences and fireside tastings; and

cozy places to enjoy hot chocolate.

“Our Winter Adventures Map is a celebration of the diversity and vibrancy of Wellington County,” Warden Chris White stated in the release.
