WELLINGTON COUNTY - The Advertiser is compiling a list of cancellations within Wellington County due to concerns about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The cancellations list below - organized be region, with ongoing cancellations listed first, followed by one-time events - will be updated regularly, with the most recent cancellations listed first.

Ongoing restrictions, closures, cancellations, postponements

County-wide, Guelph and beyond

  • Guelph Police Service station closed for non-emergencies
  • Guelph Arts Council: office closed and programs postponed in March, April
  • Credit Valley Conservation (CVC): all administration offices and buildings closed to the public
  • Community Living Guelph Wellington day programs and events
  • Wellington County administration centre, social services offices, garages, waste facilities, re-use centres
  • Skills Ontario competitions on April 4 and May 4-6
  • Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington offices
  • All restaurants/bars (with the exception of takeout/drive-thrus), theatres, cinemas, indoor recreation centres, church services, daycares, due to provincial order and state of emergency declaration by Premier Doug Ford
  • all gatherings of more than 50 people, due provincial order and state of emergency declaration by Premier Doug Ford on March 17 (until at least March 31)
  • Guelph Humane Society
  • All provincial offences and superior court matters postponed
  • St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Guelph: all programs and outpatient therapy
  • All City of Guelph facilities
  • No visitors at Guelph General Hospital (with few exceptions)
  • Guelph Little Theatre
  • All weekday Catholic masses. All in-person Sunday masses (Diocese of Hamilton decision, March 16)
  • Community Resource Centre transportation program
  • Guelph General Hospital: visitors restricted, many elective services (tests, procedures and surgeries) cancelled for at least two weeks (announced March 16)
  • Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Waterloo Wellington: all groups cancelled, all appointments and walk-ins moved to online/phone (Fergus, Guelph and Mount Forest sites remain open for those in crisis)
  • Wellington County Child Care and Learning Centres closed to the public indefinitely
  • All KidsAbility face-to-face client visits
  • All Seniors Centre for Excellence programs cancelled in north Wellington
  • Guelph Wellington Business Centre closed to the public and workshops cancelled
  • Guelph Wellington Seniors Association: all face-to-face programs suspended
  • Ontario Superior Court operations suspended
  • City of Guelph arenas, pools, recreation centres, libraries, and museums
  • All libraries in Wellington County
  • Wellington County Museum and Archives in Aboyne
  • All Hospice Wellington programs (and visitors limited)
  • Programs at all libraries in Wellington County
  • March Break programming at the Wellington County Museum and Archives in Aboyne
  • Non-essential visits at long-term care homes
  • Minor lacrosse in-person events (try-outs, training sessions, scrimmages, practices, games, etc.) until April 5 (Ontario Lacrosse Association decision, March 13)
  • Special Olympics programs, competitions, fundraisers and activities, until March 31 (Special Olympics Ontario decision, March 13)
  • Grand River Conservation Authority nature centres, March Break Camps and any previously scheduled events, from March 16 to April 5
  • Volunteer shifts at the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington
