COVID-19 outbreak over at Orangeville home

ORANGEVILLE – A COVID-19 outbreak at Avalon Care Centre here has been declared over.

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) made the announcement on Sept. 18.

With the ending of the outbreak, which involved one staff member and was first declared on Aug. 31, the WDGPH region no longer has any coronavirus outbreaks.

An outbreak is defined as one or more confirmed cases of COVID-19 in a long-term care home, retirement home or hospital.

An outbreak is declared over 14 days after symptoms began in the most recent case and when no other cases are suspect.
