CPSC donates $25,000 to LMH
MOUNT FOREST – The 22nd Annual CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon, which raises funds in support of local hospitals in southwestern Ontario was held Oct 21.
This year’s campaign benefitted eight area hospital foundations, including the Louise Marshall Hospital (LMH) Foundation in Mount Forest.
This year, the LMH Foundation set one of its most ambitious goals to date: to raise $125,000 towards the purchase of an ultrasound echo machine, an essential piece of equipment used in the diagnostic imaging department to detect both heart failure and damage from a heart attack. It is also used to diagnose a host of cardiac-related conditions.
At the close of the Radiothon broadcast more than $106,000 towards the LMH Foundation’s goal was raised. Since then, this total has surpassed $167,000, with a substantial donation of $25,000 from Cancer Patient Services Corporation (CPSC).
“We are so grateful to our community for their extraordinary generosity, and to organizations like Cancer Patient Services Corporation for their continued support of Louise Marshall Hospital,” stated Amy Van Huss, development officer for the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation.
“It is only with this generosity and support that the hospital is able to offer such excellent health care close to home.”
She added, “This is truly an incredible accomplishment for our catchment area, and every dollar raised through this campaign will be used in the purchase of the Ultrasound Echo Machine, which actually comes with a price tag of approximately $220,000.”
Total funds raised this year, in support of all eight hospital foundations, exceeds $600,000, bringing the accumulated total of funds raised over the 22 years of Radiothon to more than $14.4 million.
