Crime Stoppers Month theme is ‘creating partnerships against crime’

MOUNT FOREST - Creating partnerships against crime is the 2020 theme for Crime Stoppers Month in Guelph Wellington.

On Jan 10, local officials and dignitaries gathered to celebrate Crime Stoppers month in Guelph Wellington.

Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington (CSGW) program coordinator Sarah Bowers-Peter noted the event recognizes the work Crime Stoppers does across the world, as well as local partnerships within Wellington County.

Wellington County OPP acting inspector Paul Richardson said “we’ve always had a fulsome partnership with Crime Stoppers in our continuing efforts to support public safety and fight crime.

“Crime Stoppers has always been a valued partner in those efforts.”

Perth-Wellington MP John Nater said “this year is a wonderful theme because so much of this work is about partnerships - and working with law enforcement agencies to reduce crime in our communities.”

Noting Nater’s support of the program, Bowers-Peter added a plug for the second annual Darren’s Day set for  for Feb. 17 (Family Day) at the Palmerston community centre.

Proceeds from the event support Minto minor sports, community improvements and CSGW.

Wellington North Mayor Andy Lennox said this year’s theme is appropriate, noting  community partnership are what helps Crime Stoppers succeed.

Lennox said those partnerships include people providing tips, those making contributions and the work of Crime Stoppers itself.

Bowers-Peter added, “we have had such great support from Mount Forest and the surrounding community and we really appreciate the partnerships.”
