Dufferin County council paid $330,000 in 2021

DUFFERIN COUNTY – The cost of compensating members of Dufferin County council came in at just over $330,000 in 2021.

The annual report, presented in a March 10 council meeting, highlighted the 2021 remuneration for council, additional expenses as well as the county’s absences throughout the year.

Pay and expenses for all of council totalled $330,395.

Melanchthon Mayor and former county warden Darren White was the highest paid member of council last year, receiving a total salary of $51,217 plus expenses of $469 for total remuneration of $51,686.

Councillors’ remuneration in 2021 varied.

Seven councillors received $20,680 and four were paid a salary of $22,180.

Shelburne Mayor Wade Mills, who was recently elected at the end of 2021 to serve the remainder of the 2022 term as the county’s warden, received a total salary of $23,478 in 2021.

Councillor Fred Nix was the lowest paid member in 2021, having received a total salary of $6,941, after replacing councillor Laura Ryan in September.
