EDEN MILLS – A new double-sided sign has been installed at the Eden Mills Community Cemetery.

Director Greg MacDonald said the cemetery worked with Scutt Signs in Guelph to make the new sign.

In order to provide up-to-date information to the families of those interred in the cemetery, or to those who may be interested in learning more, two bulletin board cabinets were made part of the design.

Posted inside will be: an alphabetical listing of all those laid to rest in the cemetery, along with their plot locations; a map of the cemetery grounds; current price list; main cemetery contact information; and more.

There is also a QR code on the sign, that when scanned will link to the cemetery’s website, where even more information can be found.

“Thanks to the generous donations from families and friends in our community and beyond, we were able to have signage created that doesn’t just say who we are – it’s also an information centre,” said Dr. Laura Brown, president of the Eden Mills Community Cemetery board of directors.

Established in 1849, the Eden Mills Community Cemetery is run by a volunteer board of directors and is a registered charity.

The cemetery is located near Eden Mills in southern Wellington County.

The cemetery has a long history in the area with a number of generations of local families resting here, officials say. Some of the earliest memorials date back to the 1800s.
