MOUNT FOREST –  Two north Wellington hospital foundations are the recipients of a massive gift from Edge Mutual Insurance Company.

The Mount Forest Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation (LMHF) and Palmerston and District Hospital Foundation each received a $75,000 donation.

In recognition of the many challenges faced by community groups and charities whose fundraising capacity is significantly impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Edge Mutual is committed to broadening its scope of community support, officials of the Drayton-based company state.

Edge Mutual president and CEO Carlos Rodrigues, board chair Derek Moore and board member Richard Wright visited Louise Marshall Hospital on Nov. 30 to present the donation to LMHF president Bob Mason and development officer Amy Van Huss.

While the daily operating costs of a hospital are covered through government funding, most of the capital equipment used in hospitals is made available through the financial support of the local community.

The Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation raises funds to support the capital equipment needs of Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest. The funds gifted to LMHF by Edge Mutual will be applied towards the purchase of much-needed lab equipment, states a press release from the hospital foundation.

“As we move through the challenges brought about by both COVID and the ongoing construction here at LMH, we are so grateful for this wonderful gift of support,” said Van Huss.
