GUELPH/ERAMOSA– The second meeting of the Eramosa 4-H Beef Club was held on May 24 at the home of Allan and Janice Wallace.

Members learned about what it takes to start a beef farm by watching a video on YouTube, presented by Prairie Sunset Ranch, a beef farm in Manitoba.

The video featured a farmer sharing his top 10 tips to consider when starting a beef farm.

Some of the tips included: making sure you have enough hay for your herd, securing a clean water source, proper equipment and balancing time between farm work and family.

After the video, club members discussed what they learned and how the information applied to their family farms.

The club next held elections.

Thomas Sharpe was elected president; Lucan Moyer, vice president; Reid Schneider, secretary; and Brandon Moyer, press reporter.

The meeting was opened and closed with the 4-H pledge and motto.
