ERIN  – Council here has approved the purchase of a used grader for $650,000.

The grader is being auctioned off by the County of Wellington.

“We do have a relatively urgent need for this equipment,” said director of infrastructure services and town engineer Bryan Kavanagh.

The grader is a 2015 John Deere model, equipped with a 275 horsepower engine, six-wheel drive and approximately 5,600 operating hours.

“I would hope to get an additional 5,000 hours from this unit,” said Kavanagh.

Despite the $650,000 limit, staff anticipates the grader will go for less at auction.

The auction is to be held sometime later this month or next month.
