ERIN – The holiday season is upon us and Santa Claus is coming to town.

The Erin community is set to enjoy lots of Christmas spirit with the return of the town’s Santa Claus parade on Nov. 30 at 11am.

“We get a lot of spectators on the side of the street … a couple thousand at least,” Lions president Howard Wheeler told the Advertiser.

The Erin District Lions Club has decided on a “Christmas around the world” theme with a possibility of 28 floats, Wheeler said.

People dressed up for the occasion will also be walking with the parade.

“If it’s a nice day or half decent at all we’ll have a six-horse team with a carriage,” noted Wheeler.

He explained the horse’s owner isn’t fond of having them walking on wet pavement or snow.

The parade will begin at McCullogh Drive and then proceed through town, ending up at the Erin Fire Station at Erinville Drive.

Food bank donations will be collected during the parade by town firefighters.

Officials are encouraging residents to visit the fire station for free hot dogs, hot chocolate, cookies and donuts.

Guests will have a chance to take a picture with Santa at the station.

“We just hope for some nice weather that’s all,” he said.
