Erin's Seedy Saturday returned after two-year hiatus
Seedy Saturday – Following a two-year COVID hiatus, Erin’s Seedy Saturday event returned from 10am to 3pm on March 12 at the Erin United Church. Many visitors escaped from the cold and were happy to see friendly faces in-person instead of on a computer screen.
A wealth of horticultural information was available from several local vendors who offered seeds and supplies. The event also featured a screening of the Canadian documentary Modified, which discusses genetically modified foods. Vendors included: Arthur Greenhouse Seeds, Saturday Seed Company, Backyard Seed Savers, Willow Creek Maple Syrup, ESAC rainbarrels and turtle signs, Cedar Valley Honey, Little Deer Drive products, Cathy’s dahlia tubers, garden club memberships for Erin and Hillsburgh, and the free Erin Seed Library – with over 500 lines of inventory.
Virtual presentations from Seeds of Diversity in Waterloo, a supporter of Seedy Saturdays across Canada, was also made available, addressing topics around seed saving, seed starting, food and climate change, heritage flower gardens and more.
