GUELPH/ERAMOSA  – The Fairy and Iron Renaissance Faire began at Cox Creek Cellars on July 12 and 13.

The weekend event was the first portion of a three-part saga that continues with a Rustic Renaissance Faire on Sept. 6 and 7 at Andrews Scenic Acres in Milton and a Yuletide Ball in Mississauga on Dec. 27.

The faires are organized by Lauren Martin of Cool Aunt Creatives, and she said the goal is to create a space where people of all ages can have fun and be playful.

Martin was inspired to launch Cool Aunt Creatives because she’s noticing more people not having children, and that without children, adults find it hard to play – something that she considers very important.

The Fairy and Iron Renaissance Faire is one of Cool Aunt Creative’s largest annual events, Martin noted, and this is the first year that the faire has taken place in Wellington County.

She said her number-one takeaway from the faire is that its a judgement-free, inclusive community where people are encouraged to show up however they want.

It’s a fantasy-based faire, she noted, which offers more flexibility than a need for historical accuracy.
