FERGUS – The Fergus Legion is hosting a fundraiser for Ukraine on Aug. 6 from 8pm to 1am.

The event is a social dance. With live music from Graham and Bowie, a Guelph-based music duo, raffles, fundraising activities, pizza and drinks available,  it’s set to be a fun night for a good cause, officials say.

There’s an admission fee of $10, and all proceeds will go to Ukraine.

The Fergus Legion will donate to an organization supporting Ukraine through the Royal Canadian Legion.

The Fergus Legion’s been wanting to fundraise for  Ukraine for months, said president Brian Bielby, but “because of... COVID-19, and trying to get the Legion back up and running, we haven’t been able to do anything [for Ukraine].”

He added this was the earliest opportunity the Legion could do something to help.

The heart of the event is a social dance with lots of opportunities throughout to raise money.

“The big thing is to have fun so that we can try and encourage not only our Legion members, but the general public to come in and support the Ukraine situation, as well as have a good night out,” said Bielby.
