Fergus man dead after Highway 6 collision

GUELPH/ERAMOSA – A 40-year-old Fergus man is dead following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 6 on Friday morning.

He was heading south in a beige Ford SUV when his vehicle collided with a northbound black Dodge Ram pickup south of Fergus.

The accident took place south of 8th Line and Wellington Road 22, near the top of a hill.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the collision at 10:30am on Dec. 29, and Wellington County OPP Sgt. Dean Korn said the driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck was transported to Guelph General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Korn said the investigation is ongoing and appealed for anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward with information.

Highway 6 remained closed until after 4:30pm, and Korn said police expected it to reopen around 5:30pm.
