GUELPH – A Fergus man is dead after he was hit by a city bus in downtown Guelph on Wednesday.

Guelph Police officials say emergency crews were called to the intersection of Wyndham Street North and Carden Street at about at 1:37pm on Jan. 8.

"Investigation revealed a 49-year-old Fergus man was struck as he crossed Wyndham Street," police stated in a press release.

"The male was extricated from under the bus by Guelph Fire Department personnel but pronounced dead a short time later."
