Senate medals - Senate of Canada 150 Medals were presented by Senator Rob Black to four local residents at the Nov. 29 Wellington County council meeting.

The residents were recognized for service in county organizations.

Recipients are Ian Easterbrook, Kathy Bouma, Rod Irving and Diane Irving, with Warden Dennis Lever. Easterbrook volunteers with the Wellington County Museum and Archives and Wellington County Historical Society, Bouma with the Fergus and Elora/Salem horticultural societies and Elora Writers Festival, and the Irvings with Wellington Terrace. Calling the recipients “Canada’s unsung heroes,” Black said the four are “extraordinary Canadians from Wellington County whose enthusiasm, commitment and sheer hard work represents the Senate’s goal of giving voice to people and issues that don’t always make the headlines, but really do make the difference in the lives of so many Canadians and people in our communities.”
