ELORA – The Geddes Street Market quietly opened at 1pm on June 25, with at least a dozen people lined up outside waiting for the doors to open.

Inside the entrance there’s a mural of a bucolic scene, painted by local artist Tim Murton.

The store boasts wide aisles, a deli, bakery, specialty items, fresh produce, and everything else one might need in their weekly shopping, said owner Debra Kropf.

She was emotional about the opening and could hardly get through her welcome speech.

Centre Wellington Mayor Kelly Linton was on hand to greet customers and congratulate Kropf, who has been working on renovations for about a year.

Kropf said the store will be open from 10am to 6pm for the next couple of weeks while she continues to get the store in order and deliveries on shelves.

She expects an official grand opening sometime after Canada Day.
