Gift card wreath worth $1,000 helps raise fund for Palmerston Grove Hub
CLIFFORD – The Clifford Rotary Club is raising funds for The Grove Youth Wellness Hub in Palmerston with a new fundraiser.
“Rotary has always done a fundraiser around Christmas and we decided we wanted to do something different this year and have a specific group that we would raise money for,” Rotarian Trish Palmer told the Community News.
The funds come through the sale of raffle tickets for a gift card wreath.
“The hub is doing an excellent job over there and they’re seeing so many kids and doing so much good,” she said.
The wreath has a value of $1,000: $500 in local Clifford business gift cards and the rest in big-name retailers, she explained.
“The tickets are just flying out the door. It’s amazing,” Palmer said.
Tickets are $5 each or three for $10, with all proceeds helping youth access mental health, wellness and support services close to home.
Only 500 raffle tickets have been printed. They can be purchased through any club member.
The $50 gift cards include:
– Canadian Tire;
– Shoppers Drug Mart;
– Amazon;
– Visa;
– Giant Tiger;
– Walmart;
– LCBO;
– McDonald’s;
– Tim Hortons; and
– Home Hardware.
Local business gift cards include:
– Clifford County Store, two gift baskets ($35 each);
– Clifford Food Market, $100;
– Clifford Mini Mart, $25;
– Clifford Snack Shack, $25;
– Clifford Takeout, $80;
– The Rooster’s Perch, $50;
– Vannerston Antiques, $50; and
– Wes Bates $100.
“We are real pleased and already making plans for another one next year,” Palmer said.
The wreath can be seen sitting in the window of The Rooster’s Perch in Clifford.
The winning ticket will be announced on Dec. 16.
