HARRISTON – An exhibition by Dixi le Roux opened Feb. 6 at the Minto Arts Gallery.

Le Roux, a New Hamburg resident who moved to Canada from South Africa in 1991, describes her style as impressionist.

However, she adds, “I’m also happy throwing paint at a canvas.”

Le Roux’s paintings are created mainly with acrylics using brushes, rollers and palette knives. Although her works tell stories from her experiences travelling the globe, as well as closer to home, le Roux said her art isn’t pre-determined, but evolves as she creates.

“There’s no plan, there’s no nothing, it’s whatever makes me happy,” she said.

The exhibit, entitled The Gates are OPEN, runs until Feb. 29. The Minto Arts Gallery is located on the top floor at the Harriston library at 88 Mill Street.
