GRAFE, Irene

Irene’s final wish was realized when she passed away at her beloved home, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at the age of 103. Cherished wife of the late Otto Grafe (1981). Loving mother of Marion Kukasch (Eduard) of Alberta, Ria Grummett of Owen Sound, Ilona Henderson of Owen Sound, Bernhard Grafe (Wendy) of Sunderland, Reinhard Grafe (Yvonne) of Oshawa, Norma Grafe of Owen Sound, Eva Boelke (Harald) of Harriston, and mother-in-law of Helmut Berchtold of Germany. Predeceased by her beloved daughter Gisela Berchtold (2024) and son-in-law Neil Henderson (2024). Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Survived by her sister Nushi Sindrestean of Hungary; as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Ferenz and Margrit Bujaki, brothers Feri, Viktor and Eduard, sisters Manzi, Ershi and Magda. Irene was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She always put the needs of others above her own and was incredibly proud of her family. Irene could often be found in her garden, on her sewing machine or creating another rug hooking masterpiece. She was an expert seamstress and created many beautiful pieces for herself and her family. While enjoying all of these activities, there was always music present in the background, with her singing along. The family would like to thank the PSW’s from Paramed, Care Partners, Bayshore and the Paramedics from Guelph Wellington Community Paramedicine for the care she received. A special thank you to Dr. Julie Weinstein for her dedication and compassion. A private funeral service will be held at the England Funeral Home with spring interment in Woodland Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Irene are asked to consider the Mount Forest Community Pantry. Donations and online condolences may be made at www.englandfuneralhome.com
