Haunted Corn Maze raises $3,000 for hospital
MOOREFIELD – The second annual Haunted Corn Maze was held on the Ottens farm near Moorefield on Oct. 18.
Organizers say it was a great success, with balmy weather and the rain holding off until 8:30, when the event was almost over.
Two dozen “scarers” of all ages filled the maze to bring screams and giggles to attendees.
“Scares were gentle in the early hours when it was still light, but when the sun went down, the big scares came out,” organizers stated.
People could buy cold drinks and light snacks, including “witch finger” hot dogs.
All proceeds went to Palmerston and District Hospital, including donations from seven other bookings of the corn maze in October by youth groups and scout troops.
About $3,000 will go to the hospital foundation, to be used for equipment needs.
Organizers thank everyone who helped with scaring people, taking admission, setting up and cleaning up.
They already have ideas for next year’s Haunted Corn Maze, which will be on the third Saturday evening in October, and will include an Enchanted Forest Trail.
