Homecoming kicks off on Canada Day
Peter Buhrow and his historical team have researched papers, scrapbooks and thousands of photos to compile 150 Years of Memories for the 150th Community Anniversary and 2017 Clifford Homecoming.
The soft cover book is available through Peter Buhrow at 519-327-8280 or 1 Cecilia Street North in Clifford. They can also be purchased on Saturdays at the souvenir store on Elora Street.
Buhrow, Mary Jean Hartwig, Lynda Schmidt, Bill Raynard, Bill Ste. Marie and John Kruspe have extensively researched notable figures in Clifford’s history. They discovered that the founder of Tackaberry skates and an author lived in Clifford. They highlighted Sports, shops, culture, recreation, churches, and so much more. They discovered the names and faces of the men who joined forces for the First and Second World Wars.
The old grist mill, featured predominantly on the cover is the highlight of the village’s Canada Day celebration at 2pm on July 1 at the site of the old mill beside Jemstone’s Bar and Grill.
Everyone is welcome to hear stories from the mill owners, see the replica mill, view videos, listen to the Queen’s Belles and enjoy Canada Day the Clifford Homecoming way.
