HOMER, Eldah Ruth “Jean” (nee Winslade)

Jean passed away peacefully in the early morning of July 5, 2024, at Groves Memorial Hospital, with close family by her side. Jean was the beloved wife of Paul for 44 years. Together they ran a dairy farm in West Garafraxa. The farm was Jean’s passion, and her knowledge, efforts and dedication made it a success. She was a loving and devoted mother to Michelle (John) and Brad, and much adored grandmother to Mila and Olivia. Her energy and laughter, her caring guidance and support, and her gentle encouragement to “do the best that you can” will always be held close to our hearts. Jean was born in Mount Forest to the late Gordon and Marion Winslade. She is survived by her brother Ralph (Irene), her sister-in-law Barbara and her sister-in-law Beatrice. Pre-deceased by her sisters in law Margaret, Marjorie, Shirley, Mary, Joan and brothers in law Graham, Wellington, Ray, Charles, Bill and Carl. For all of those who knew her, including many nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends, Jean exemplified kindness, compassion, determination, strength and stoicism. We will miss her deeply. A celebration of life will be held for close friends and family in the near future. Arrangements entrusted to the Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Groves Memorial Hospital Foundation, in thanks for the amazing care that Jean received from the entire healthcare team at Groves. A tree will be planted in memory of Jean Homer in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
