It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we share, in his 84th year, the sudden passing of beloved husband, father, friend and neighbour, Paul Hughes on Thursday,  October 3, 2024. Generous, kind, and full of Dad jokes, Paul was known for enjoying a friendly chat. An avid volunteer, he was quick to lend a hand at his grandchildrens’ schools and activities, as well as volunteering in his community with many organizations. Paul’s commitment to his community was also expressed in his public service career. Born in Christchurch, New Zealand, Paul was a customs agent before immigrating to Canada where he pursued a career in hospital administration and often served as an election clerk in his retirement. Exceptionally handy and resourceful, always pleased to lend a hand, Paul ran his own handyman business for two decades. Loving husband of 59 years to Mary Lynne, beloved father of Leah, and cherished father-in-law of Mike, Paul passed peacefully surrounded by family, his wife by his side, holding his daughter’s hand. Adored Grandpa to Braeden, Kaesha, Mikaela and Kaetlynn, he will be sorely missed. We are ever thankful for every single moment we had together and will forever cherish his memory through the skills he taught us. Touched you last. A tree will be planted in his memory.
