Bylaw enforcement and fire prevention officer Cam Forbes has added building inspector to his list of duties with the town of Minto.

Council approved the appointment of Forbes to the building department position at the April 24 meeting.

A report from chief building official Terry Kuipers notes the town “has seen an influx of development across all sectors in the past couple of years.” In addition, the CBO points out with one department employee currently on leave, he was the only qualified building inspector available prior to Forbes appointment.

Forbes recently received certification to handle residential construction inspections, which Kuiper said places the “highest demand” on the building department.

“Having Cam Forbes qualified in this category is a great benefit to the building department and the service levels it provides,” Kuipers states in his report, which notes Forbes will continue with by-law enforcement and fire prevention duties and will prioritize his time based on the demands in each area of responsibility.

A bylaw appointing Forbes to the position was approved by council at the meeting.
