GUELPH - Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) has updated the region's COVID-19 vaccine appointment booking system to make it easier and faster to book or reschedule a vaccine appointment. Residents of Wellington and Dufferin counties and Guelph no longer need to pre-register or wait for an email or text notification to book an appointment.

In a July 8 press release WDGPH states is now easy to find a convenient time and location by visiting wdgpublichealth.inputhealth.com/ebooking. Residents are encouraged to read the instructions before proceeding to the booking system.

Public health officials state the region  is well on its way to being "one of the most vaccinated places in North America," adding, "But we still have a long way to go before we reach herd immunity."

WDGPH states it is essential that residents of the region:

  • get a first dose as soon as possible by visiting the website or dropping in to any local vaccine clinic;
  • schedule a second dose as soon as possible; and
  • move up scheduled doses from August or September to July.

The health unit indicates there are thousands of appointments currently available in July. Residents are eligible to receive a second dose 28 days after their first dose if it was Pfizer or Moderna and eight weeks after their first dose if it was AstraZeneca.

“We have made huge progress on protecting our region,” said Dr. Nicola Mercer, Medical Officer of Health and CEO of WDG Public Health. “Vaccines are truly the most effective way for us to protect each other and get back to normal and stay there. Please book your appointment as soon as possible so we can vaccinate our community as quickly as possible.”

Dr. Mercer added, “We can now see the impact of this virus on those who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated. If you have not had both of your doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, you are at risk. Please act now.”
