JACKSON, Jean
With much love and hearts full of precious memories, the family of Jean Jackson would like to share her passing at Hospice Wellington on Sunday, March 9, 2025. Jean, in her 100th year, passed quietly and with dignity as was her way. Her journey takes her to join Bill Jackson (2008). Jean was born on September 15, 1925 at the Guelph General Hospital to William and Margaret (Fixter) Major. Her siblings were Stuart Major (2006), Margaret Parkinson (2021) and George Major (2012). Jean and Bill married at Stone United Church on April 8, 1950. To this union, four children were born: Elizabeth, Earl, Irwin, and Judy. Jean leaves 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Jean started her education at S.S.#10, Eramosa. She continued on to Rockwood Continuation school for grades 9-12, GCVI for grade 13 and Normal School (Teacher’s College) in Hamilton. Jean began her teaching career at S.S. #5 Shiloh, a one room school. She taught at Eramosa Public School from the time of its opening in 1965 to 1990 when she retired. She touched many lives over those 50 years. Jean lived a life of serving others: teaching, cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, preserving, Stone United Church and UCW activities, Everton Cemetery, and caring for Bill and family. Jean found much joy in her flower beds, reading and collecting poems and clippings for her scrapbooks. Friends will be received at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, on Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 9:00am to 11:00am. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00am. For anyone that would like to watch the service remotely, please use the link on the funeral home website.
